 R. B. A. KNOCK-OUT CUP RULES 2001-2002
  1. The competition shall be known as the Reading Badminton Association Knock-out Cup, and shall be played annually for the Griffith Cup.
  2. The competition shall be a team handicap event played on a knock-out basis throughout the season.
  3. Each team shall consist of four men and four ladies who shall play the following rubbers;
    • Game 1: 1st Mens Doubles
    • Game 2: 1st Ladies Doubles
    • Game 3: 2nd Mens Doubles
    • Game 4: 2nd Ladies Doubles
    • Game 5: 1st Mixed Doubles
    • Game 6: 2nd Mixed Doubles
    • Game 7: 3rd Mixed Doubles
    • Game 8: 4th Mixed Doubles
    NOMINATED AT THE START OF THE MATCH and the rubbers shall be played in the above order.
  4. Any club affiliated to the Reading Badminton Association shall be permitted to enter as many teams as it wishes. Each club must send a list of players, from whom they will be selecting their teams, to the Honorary League Secretary by 1st October. The Honorary League Secretary must be notified of any changes to this list 14 days prior to the game being played.
  5. Players must be a regular team member in the Reading League and will become ineligible to play in the Knock-out Cup if they have not played in three League Matches prior to the 31st December of the current season. Exceptions to this rule must be approved by the League Sub-Committee.
  6. Each rubber shall consist of two games of 15 points. There shall be NO SETTING.
  7. The team drawn at Home shall start off -2 in every game regardless of the venue, except where two teams sharing the same hall are drawn against each other and the Knock-out Cup match is played at that venue, then both teams start at 0 in every game. If any pair has a minus score at the end of a game, that score shall be recorded as 0-15.
  8. The responsibility for arranging a date for the match shall rest with the team drawn at home. Home clubs not having standard size courts must advise their opponents of the fact when arranging the match, the opponents may then require the match to be transferred to their own court.
  9. Any closing time must be stated by the Home Club captain at the START of the match.  Provided that three and a half hours' play has taken place any rubbers not played shall be scored according to the handicap.
  10. The winners of the match shall be the team which, together with its handicap, has the highest number of points. In the event of a tie, the match shall be decided on the results of the mixed doubles rubbers together with half the handicap scores.
  11. Shuttles of the approved type shall be provided by the Home Club, and all the costs of the match shall be shared between the two teams.
  12. The final shall be played on a neutral court and the two teams may be required to share the cost. Shuttles for the final will be provided by the League.
    13. The right to decide the choice of shuttles shall be decided by lot. Any point not covered by these Rules shall be settled by the League Sub-Committee. (The League Sub-Committee reserve the right to adjust the handicap of any team entering the competition if that team is found to include a player whose presence was not allowed for in the original handicapping.) If more than one team is entered, players shall be selected for teams according to strength. No player shall play for more than one team in the competition, unless the team for which they have played has been knocked out, then they become eligible to play for a HIGHER STRENGTH team in the same club.
